According to an artist villager it is their genetic practice and they have been doing this for generations. Most of the members of each family are engaged in art work. It is a very small village with more or less 100 families. Raghurajpur's Patachitra is recognized by UNESCO and it is now a Heritage. It will be a unique experience to paint our walls. Raghurajpur is a small village of Odisha which is known for it's art and craft. “We have been doing traditional Pattachitra and tusser paintings on specially designed canvases. When the tourism sector revives after Covid, tourists will get a visual treat once they step into the village,” said Pattnaik, the celebrated sand sculptor. But Raghurajpur has its own identity it depicts the rich tradition of Odisha’s art and craft. The village is surrounded by palm, mango, coconut and other tropical trees along with betel leaf gardens. “We will select five best work for awards. The small village is situated in Puri district of Odisha. The artists have been given five days to complete the paintings. The Akademi has decided to provide Rs 10,000 remuneration to each family. They have been asked to do murals on walls and doors of their houses,” Akademi president Sudarsan Pattnaik said. But in view of Covid, we have taken the camp to their doorstep. We normally organise art camps at Bhubaneswar and invite artists here. “We want to encourage the artisans, who have been passing through difficult time due to Covid. The idea of turning the outer walls and doors of each house into canvas was executed by Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi.
